Discourse the-opinionated-moose: done-with-discourse: keyhollow: yesanothergalaxy: noelleian: daydreaming-of-puppies: robert-the-redhead-lover: daydreaming-of-puppies: gservator: daydreaming-of-puppies: What do you guys think of transgender athletes Should they be allowed to participate in the gender they identify as Should their be a rule that they must be so far into their transition before they can No they shouldn’t at least not if they pose a threat to the other competitors lives as we already have pro boxers being given skull fractures by MtF boxers and so on physically natural women cannot compare to the sheer force people of the male sex can exert Maybe have a separate section where trans participants face one another or be so far along they are physically identical to a biological female that they can compete equally According to this it takes 1-2 years for hormones to decrease muscle/strength in MTF transgender people So I’m wondering if that should be a standard as to when they can participate Then again some biological men are naturally weak not to be offensive lol so if they were to be MTF is it fair to them to make them wait Every option seems to leave someone out it’s a tricky thing Ban ‘em Well I don’t think that’s very fair at all Why should they be banned It’s a lot more complicated than many people are willing to acknowledge We need to have civil objective dialogue and prioritize facts not emotion Ignoring biology not only creates the high probability of inequality but it can and already has been dangerous particularly for afab people Especially when it comes to contact sports Transgender MMA Fighter Breaks Skull of Her Female Opponent “I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night” “I can only say I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right” Tamikka Brents Also ‘weak’ men are still physically stronger than the vast majority of women Men are physically stronger than women on average A study in the Journal of Applied Physiology found that men had an average of 26 lbs 12 kilograms more skeletal muscle mass than women Women also exhibited about 40 percent less upper-body strength and 33 percent less lower-body strength on average the study found That’s pretty significant I think it would be better to just create a league in sports that is not gendered That way trans people can fight without controversy because it is already expected that men and women will be competing against each other Otherwise noting the physiology and the recent cases of bio males dominating bio females is troubling and there is no way that it isn’t unfair to bio females who cannot match the physiology of males who have had decades of testosterone in their system Even a short time on T can give FTMs an extraordinary advantage over cis females We so that with the FTM high school wrestler who was forced to continue competing with girls He dominated the girls within seconds with his physical strength I would honestly say that allowing trans people to compete with their identified gender works better for FTMs than is does for MTFs FTM T levels do not go over the male range and can frequently be lower than the male range The only differences is the free flowing T in the blood but I haven’t seen any evidence of that giving an advantage in muscle growth In contrast MTFs who have been playing sports and developing their muscles have years and years of T working on their body Their bone density and muscle development will not go away over night Estrogen would and T blockers would need to be working in their system for years and even then their physiology can still give them advantage because it has been proven that muscles can easily build themselves back to their former development but estrogen and low T can reverse this Women will never win tbh Transgenders needs to decide what is more important: transitioning or a sports career Once they start to transition they can’t be in sports trapsuprxme Someone else agrees that we just need a coed league! For some sports I’d agree that a coed league is a good solution but like… MMA fighting can never be coed or boxing or any combat sport Except maybe wrestling cause its fake But like… basketball would be unfair as shit cause most women are shorter than men and are at a disadvantage Don’t get me started on football and hockey You’re right and as a five foot woman who used to be a five foot girl playing bbal with boys…………fuck yeah you’re right But what the fuck Olympic basketball player is under six feet even in the womens leave They’re all L O N G like wow And a woman who’s like seven feet tall wouldn’t be disqualified from the womens league for being taller than the other women I think They’re getting dumb as shit by making that one cis woman artificially lower her natural testosterone so ¯ツ/¯ Contact sports are riskier ofc but basketball should be fine imo idk I think that the waiting 2 years rule for trans women seems the safest and fair but it is always a tricky situation and different sports should have different rulesFind it funny that that link shows a MTF MMA fighter breaking a skull You all blame her but not the referee that didn’t stop her the moment blood was spilled or let it continue until a knockout even after the skull fracture Maybe instead of blaming the woman that transitioned let’s question the mentality of people letting bad shit happen while just watching it happen on the sidelines hm Or the referee for letting that bloodfest match continue when even done damage was done hm Did they even do proper medical checks on both her and their part to ensure her levels meet the requirements for competing with those of the same sex she identifies asI can’t say much on the transwoman because there’s not even an indication of some routine or check to see if the testosterone/estrogen levels are on par or too high for the division she plans to compete in We don’t have the full story on that Did this woman finish/finalized her transition Was she following up on her hormone levels to assess they meet the status quo of the sex she is/has transitioned to now Did she do her homework before competing to know what levels are expected to compete fairly with the status quo Are her levels too high even against women naturally born with higher testosterone If so what measures should she take to ensure her levels are on par with the levels/ranges of women of the status quo and women born with naturally higher testosteroneThere should be a waiting period especially for those in the transitioning stages Because in a medical point of view that’s akin to competing while undergoing treatment which is a gray area in and of itself in general instead of just…finishing the treatment treatment recovery time and then going back to gradually training back for reasons related to own and/or for your passion What’s the rush exactly Why rush back to doing what you love without taking the proper steps to gradually get back there and risk injuring other people in the process Also yesanothergalaxy states a fair point of creating another league Much better than the buffoonery of Robert suggesting of banning trans people from competing Like fuck that noise Transfolks are barred from being pilots in some places but you want to go further and ban sports too Typical lazy hand approach of banning people who deviate from the status quo eye roll |

liquidvoidmusic: aphobicentrapta: homophobia has a body count aphobia has a blocklist look i’m just going to ignore your massive entitlement complex that makes you think your own experiences are evidence for what always happens because i need to explain something oppression of minorities works similarly to the 5 stages of grief: denial anger bargaining depression and acceptance each individual person who is aware of the existence of any given minority is at a different stage with regards to their beliefs about the minority not everyone goes through them in order not everyone goes through all of them but let me elaborate for the majority nonbinary and asexual people are at S1: ‘denia’l most people are unaware that they exist and those who are choose to dismiss them as “not real” a lot of people haven’t worked up that hatred for them because they’re content knowing that they’re not really real and that their identities are “made up” gay and trans people are still here in some cases those cases being the people who screech about them “going against biology” and trying to call their identities a “lifestyle choice” or “ideology” for the majority gay and trans people are at S2: ‘anger’ they’ve been forced to realise that gay and trans people are real and that they exist so what do they do make them out to be predators and start assaulting and murdering them the reason asexual people aren’t as commonly assaulted is because people are content in denying their existence outright they’ll make it to S2 eventually and aphobia’s body count will rise as people are forced to realise the existence of ace people this is already happening on a smaller scale – any online video mentioning asexual people sees them called “freaks” and sees death wished upon them for some more “accepting” types gay and trans people are at S3: ‘bargaining’ this is the “don’t flaunt it” stage it’s where people say “i’m not homophobic but i wish gay people just wouldn’t flaunt their relationships/sexuality in public” or “i’m not transphobic but trans people shouldn’t make their whole personality about their gender identity/express their preferred gender aggressively” people think they can reach a compromise with us that allows them to deny our existence and somehow let us still be happy S4: ‘depression’ is more personal this is the stage where relatives friends and loved ones think they’re accepting but when someone they know comes out they start feeling like they’ve “lost” that person’s pre-transition self or the person’s future in a straight relationship despite it not being theirs to lose in the first place we need to move to S5: ‘acceptance’ the lgbt community was never a suffering game it’s a place for people who don’t fit the norm with regards to gender and sexuality to come together and share their experiences this “only the first four letters matter because they’re the most oppressed” bullshit is precisely that – bullshit everyone is just as oppressed because the cishet people with societal power to influence the masses hate deviations from the norm and want an excuse to feel ‘better’ than others in any way they can that’s my take for the daySee this is what I don’t get Like you can just say Asexuals have a very small body count than everyone else that are oppressed and people would be fine with that cause yes Asexuals have a very small percent of people compared to rest of the population Nothing pisses people off more than erasing other people’s experiences cause others had it worse That goes to anything Fuck off with this whole oppression Olympics buffoonery/coolaid and learn to unite with fellows rather than dividing yourselves to the point of nothingness!signed byA vury tired ‘muricin born desi mod scifi |
