Find was the most important things that he focused on that made you so successful in the in that sense so in such a short amount of time so honestly a lot of it was luck where I I somehow found the right right thing and I was able to leverage it and explore it and exploit it but if we’re talking about process one thing that really helped was focusing on my connections and my networking in the beginning where I I had a nine-to-five job but there was a business conference so I took a week off of my job to fly that business conference and I spend my own money and from there I met the right people who helped me out and gave me advice that shaved off like months and even years off my time so I focus a lot on networking second is yeah I I focus on different areas so I was able to I break it down you know I have to write as I do landing pages and stuff I have to know enough technical stuff so I taught myself basic programming because I didn’t have the money to outsource and all sourcing wasn’t really that popular six years ago but not like it it’s now so for me you know a lot of it was also a lot of it was luck where I was at the right place right time with the right market but at the same time I was able to be in a position to take advantage of that luck hmm I mean the this great actually this is great to break it down into smaller parts and focus on the right things you know we are I mean I think I think Nick Reese had an interesting post recently on his site he wrote about the entrepreneurial luck you know your leave me can get lucky if we focus on the right things you you actually created your own luck basically you surrounded yourself with the right people and what will you say to people maybe they are struggling to find the right people just surround themselves with what what can they do maybe they don’t live in a big city whatever you know what what’s some best practice for them so that’s so that’s a very interesting question because I get at least 1015 emails a day asking people people asking me to mentor them or teach them and mostly I’m I say no because I only have 24 hours in a day yeah a refugee I mean your rate is very high as well I checked you know your your baby okay getting into this as well with the premium positioning and how you’ve done it but we can go on so so for me um what was I’m sorry I lost my train of thought I should basically how like how you can and meet other people surround yourself with the right mentors sense here’s here’s here’s a really good advice um let’s say you want to learn a skill from someone in your industry the problem most guys is they want to go for the very top or go for the very best for instance you want to learn a fully marketing you’ll go for me or you want to learn basketball you might wanna learn from Michael Jordan or you want to learn golf from Tiger Woods the fact is they’re too busy they’re just too busy to teach you and just because they’re the best at that field doesn’t mean they’re the best teacher so for instance you want to learn basketball why not go to the local basketball coach at your high school he could teach you you could maybe teach you better than LeBron James or Michael Jordan you don’t know so second thing is let’s say you do want to learn from someone you have to think of it from their perspective because a lot of people think what’s in it for me me me me me me Dave no they don’t know who you are you know it takes a lot of time and effort to help someone and most of the time they don’t even implement it so my suggestion is you have to think how can i what’s in it for that guy how can I help them so let me give an example um you know I get many people asking me for help that I unfortunately I just have to turn down because I have limited time and I just rather do a podcast or do a blog post because that reaches you know a lot of people so my recommendation is look if you have any skill or you can help them out in any way offer your services for advice so that’s what exactly what one guy did he is a programmer he offered the program a few hours a week for me in exchange for some advice and for me if someone helps me out I’m gonna help them out 10 times more I hate the feeling of owing somebody so this guy yeah he programs for me you know I don’t need too much programming but he programs for me like six hours a week helping out my wordpress and some other stuff in exchange you know I’ll whatever questions he has I’ll answer it honestly and he makes money now from my advice and what’s interesting is he’s he’s earning a full-time income yet he’s still doing free work for me because he doesn’t want to lose that is that direction I mean that’s fantastic advice and I think a lot of people they struggle with this how can I offer advice to someone who’s much more successful than I am when I’m starting out you know that’s can I get a lot of questions as well about this because I started like this you |

my memory forever — a mixture of disbelief shock fear and grief The identity of the shooter however was not a surprise: a white nationalist committed to the movement’s core belief that Jews are the chief orchestrators of “white genocide” — the “great replacement” of whites in America by non-white immigration and the forces of multiculturalism The shooter’s anti-Semitism didn’t rise in a vacuum The dog-whistle rhetoric against George Soros and “globalists” voiced by the Trump administration right-wing politicians and Fox News in the days leading up to the shooting helped create the climate that motivated the shooter to take action Days after the shooting Vice President Mike Pence explicitly denied that Trump’s scapegoating rhetoric had played any role Six months later after another white nationalist shot up a synagogue in Poway killing one right-wing leaders — from Trump Jr to Ted Cruz — repeated this ploy rushing to point the finger at progressives instead of white nationalists For Jews still mourning the Pittsburgh massacre these added injuries were an outrage We’re all used to this pattern by now White nationalists continue to commit deadly attacks against Jews immigrants and other minorities while right-wing leaders continue to deflect from this reality and instead falsely portray progressive leaders and social movements from Ilhan Omar to the Women’s March as the chief threats to American Jews Now more than ever we need to understand and confront the threats posed to Jews and other minorities and multiracial democracy as a whole by white nationalism and the forces of Trumpism Mourners take part in a vigil for the victims of the shooting at Tree of Life Congregation Pittsburgh Pennsylvania October 29 Governor Tom Wolf/CC BY 20 It is with this in mind that my organization Political Research Associates has just released a new report “Taking Aim at Multiracial Democracy: Antisemitism White Nationalism and Anti-Immigrant Racism in the Era of Trump” in collaboration with Bend the Arc a progressive Jewish advocacy group The report highlights growing white nationalist anti-Semitism in the United States and its amplification by right-wing elected officials Fox News and segments of the general public from the time of the Pittsburgh shooting up to the present Since 2016 the United States has seen a frightening escalation of anti-Semitism across the right This has taken many forms ranging from Trump’s anti-Semitic campaign ads and claims of Jewish “disloyalty” to Republican rhetoric scapegoating George Soros and “globalists” the rise of the internet alt-right movement white nationalist street mobilizations like the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville and deadly and attempted violence vandalism and arson targeting synagogues and Jewish cemeteries This anti-Semitism is intimately connected to racist and exclusionary rhetoric policy and violence against non-white immigrants and other minorities White nationalists hold the racist belief that non-white “others” are intrinsically inferior They also imagine Jews as the shadowy architects behind a strategy to undermine white civilization and carry out the “meticulously planned genocide of the European white race” in the words of the Poway synagogue shooter White nationalists believe Jews are orchestrating this so-called “white genocide” by encouraging non-white immigration and engineering a slew of progressive forces from the civil rights feminist and LGBTQ rights movements to multiculturalism “political correctness” and more These ideas don’t just exist on the fringes of the right White nationalist anti-Semitism is increasingly echoed and reinforced in dog-whistle form by prominent right-wing elected officials and media pundits including Trump himself These right-wing leaders echo the demonization of liberal Jewish philanthropist George Soros and the “globalist” or “cosmopolitan” elite as hidden masterminds of non-white immigration and various “liberal” causes from present-day impeachment proceedings against Trump to the “migrant caravan” during the 2018 midterms Black Lives Matter protests and more When right-wing leaders voice this rhetoric it legitimizes anti-Semitic conspiracies while granting it a massive public forum contributing to a climate that encourages white nationalist attacks on Jews and other minorities None of these tactics are new From early 20th-century Tsarist Russia to Nazi Germany conservative and ultra-nationalist leaders and social movements have long propagated the fantasy of a scheming immensely-powerful Jewish cabal that covertly manipulates world affairs While many forms of oppression “punch down” by declaring groups of people inferior based on race class and gender modern European-derived anti-Semitism claims to “punch up” at an imagined secretive elite class of Jews In so doing right-wing leaders and social movements use anti-Semitic scapegoating during times of intense inequality and instability in order to deflect popular discontent and discourage it from challenging the inequitable policies they uphold and benefit from As we explain in “Taking Aim at Multiracial Democracy” this anti-Semitism doesn’t only threaten the safety and vibrancy of Jewish communities It also bolsters and amplifies racist rhetoric and exclusionary policy against immigrants communities of color and other marginalized groups It serves as an effective scaffolding for full-frontal attacks against progressive movements and multiracial democracy as a whole Mourners take part anti-Semitism as a threat that confronts Jews equally from both progressive and right-wing movements — or more astounding still as a primarily left-wing phenomenon Too often conversations around anti-Semitism within the American Jewish community and the broader American public are derailed by endless scrutiny of progressive women of color or activists for Palestinian human rights as the chief threat to American Jews This plays into the right’s well-documented strategy of championing their own apparent support for Jews and Israel in order to cover for their own racism and anti-Semitism This tactic also informs the right’s deepening unconstitutional attempts to pass legislation suppressing speech critical of Israel on American universities and elsewhere This dynamic was on full display in the events surrounding Bard College’s recent conference on anti-Semitism and racism which I attended as a proud Bard alum as a Jew and as a researcher deeply invested in these topics Shockingly keynote speaker Ruth Wisse barely mentioned white nationalism instead using her platform to tar critics of Israel progressive academics and college students and the entire Muslim and Arab world as the chief inheritors of global anti-Semitism after the Nazi Holocaust Equally frustrating The Forward’s Opinion Editor Batya Ungar-Sargon then published a scathing op-ed claiming that a student protest of Wisse’s keynote was anti-Semitic — a piece that was labeled a brazen mischaracterization by numerous firsthand accounts of the protest The tragic end result is that in the era of Trump and rising white nationalism the chief outcome of a conference on the vital and timely topics of racism and anti-Semitism seemed to be public bickering over whether or not a handful of largely Jewish student human rights activists are anti-Semitic To be clear like every other kind of oppression anti-Semitism is part of the air we breathe as a society and exists in different forms across our political spectrum When anti-Semitism appears today among progressives it is a significant obstacle to effective analysis and coalition-building and needs to be understood and challenged Right-wing anti-Semitism however is a violent threat to Jewish safety and continuity It helps fuel the far-right populist movement that brought Trump to power and continues to reshape our political landscape and it sits at the core of white nationalism which enjoys an expanding base of potential support across the United States Without appropriate interventions we can expect scapegoating rhetoric and deadly attacks against Jews as well as immigrants and other minorities to continue and even to escalate As American Jews we cannot afford to get confused as to where the real danger lies and where we can find allies and build safety through solidarity In order to protect our communities we must deepen solidarity between Jews immigrants Muslims and all groups targeted by white nationalism and the racist rhetoric of the Trump camp This means engaging with our differences in a shared understanding that it is the right which seeks to exclude and scapegoat our communities and silence our allies Energy companies receive some 20 billion in taxpayer-funded subsidies every year a 2017 report found President Trump may boast of the US’ “energy independence” but the companies that create that energy are thoroughly dependent on Uncle Sam to keep them afloat What little social safety net there is in the US benefits only the poorest of the poor with income caps that exclude most employed people making above minimum wage As a result the working class – traditionally at least in theory the beneficiaries of socialism – is the only group that doesn’t get to enjoy its fruits in this upside-down system Young people are right to be disgusted with what passes for capitalism in the US Most developed nations have figured out how to combine elements of socialism with a market economy traditional masculinity that are largely deemed harmful such as “stoicism competitiveness dominance and aggression” Yet these traits are a double-edged sword that at certain times in history played a necessary role and a psychologist who helped draft the guidelines acknowledging that in certain circumstances traits like stoicism and self-sacrifice can be absolutely crucial For instance a lack of such traits would have been disastrous whilst hunting wild beasts in the Paleolithic era or during the Normandy landings and battles on the Eastern Front in WWII While it is certainly true that men should be encouraged to discuss issues related to mental health and should not feel that they need to suppress their emotions all the time it needs to be accepted that many men think and communicate act think and communicate Both men and women have their fair share of positive and negative traits Differences are not necessarily deficiencies and should be valued as equal and complementary where help for children It provides support for farmers for fishermen It distributes school supplies to children Is this terrorism Mohammed was an outstanding student receiving a Master’s degree on a scholarship from the Palestinian Authority for excellence He started working for World Vision in 2005 while the PA not Hamas ruled Gaza He identifies with Fatah’s ideology and with those who believe in the way of peace He strongly opposes violence believing that humanitarian work is the best way to curtail violence in all segments of Palestinian society He felt the economic blockade of Gaza fomented violence and that humanitarian work reduces it My son was invited to Australia in 2014 and delivered a speech to its parliament about reducing violence in Gaza through humanitarian aid and he did the same in Germany World Vision scrutinized his work Project contracts were signed in Jerusalem for any partner working with the organization And my son advised the organization regarding which partners to work with leaving a clear email trail of his contacts Following his incarceration World Vision a global organization that prides itself on accountability and transparency engaged independent investigators who “found no diversion of funds by Mohammad and no material evidence that he was a member of or working for Hamas” “In fact” a World Vision spokeswoman told The Times of Israel “there is substantial evidence to the contrary showing how Mohammad worked to ensure World Vision avoided improper interactions with Hamas” Presenting the UNRWA human rights curriculum to Pres Jimmy Carter Courtesy German Australian and USAID launched investigations into how the funds they donated were used and found nothing supporting Israeli allegations “Unfair and inhumane” Given due from going to Gaza to collect evidence and expose the truth Why As a father I have a message especially for fathers and mothers in Israel I believe you can see the human side of this case My son has five sons of his own who expect justice to prevail even in Israeli courts because their father is innocent and good and an unjust ruling will only prove that the Israeli judiciary system lacks integrity To the Israeli public I want you to know that I worked for UNRWA as an education director and implemented the first human rights curriculum in the region And I insisted on including the Holocaust in this course because I believe that we must not deny the injustice inflicted on Jews and that it’s part of history and I presented this curriculum to the US President Jimmy Carter These are the values I raised my son to uphold The Israeli courts must find Mohammed innocent in this case and be courageous enough to exonerate my son and apologize to him And when they do I will cheer and and a number of Nobel Prize laureates Sir Richard Branson is one of the group’s biggest donors and a member of the Elders’ Advisory Council Palestine a “top priority” The long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been one of The Elders’ top priorities since the group was founded…Given the far-reaching impact of the unresolved conflict and the power imbalance between the parties The Elders believe the international community has a vital role to play in helping Israelis and Palestinians reach a lasting solution… The Elders call for a resolution to the issue “based on universal human rights and international humanitarian law” including a return to the pre-1967 borders a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem an end to the siege of Gaza and just solutions to the issues of Palestinian refugees settlement and annexation mutual security and division of natural resources The organization condemned President Trump’s decision to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem Israel’s killing of unarmed protesters in Gaza and the US withdrawal funding from UNRWA Individual members of the consortium have denounced Israeli policy and practice: Desmond Tutu for example used the word “apartheid” as early as 2002 to describe the situation Nelson Mandela famously said “We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians” President Jimmy Carter stated in his 2007 book Peace Not Apartheid that peace will be possible “only when the Israeli government is willing to comply with international law…The United States is squandering international prestige and goodwill and intensifying global anti-American terrorism by unofficially condoning or abetting the Israeli confiscation and colonization of Palestinian territories” Statements released by the Elders as a group such as this this and this make an honest attempt to assess the issue – more honest than most politicians They clearly feel no obligation to treat Israel with kid gloves They could go further in their demands for justice and confront the futility of the two-state solution – few groups have taken these steps Virgin says it cares about human rights As Branson pursued human rights in Israel/Palestine and the world Virgin Atlantic Ltd also nurtured a culture of social integrity: training employees and maintaining best practices in environmental responsibility human trafficking and human rights As recently as 2018 the company instructed Virgin Holidays’ destination managers on human rights issue awareness and reporting Its “2018 Modern Slavery Statement” explained “We have a regular presence in our top selling destinations and our people are encouraged and empowered to observe and raise any particular concerns…Our people engage with our customers and suppliers every day and need to understand how to uphold our human rights standards” In addition a company-wide whistleblowing policy is in place to field any employee concern that “goes against our policies and values” confidentially without fear of reprisal Virgin Atlantic’s website spells out its Responsible Supplier Policy: “to source goods and services in a way that treats the people we work with directly and indirectly with respect and dignity” based on international human rights standards – such as the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights Branson’s public support for justice Sir Richard Branson has personally advocated for human rights – for Palestinians and other groups – at times on the company website and Facebook page In 2014 during and after the Israeli incursion into Gaza that killed 2250 Palestinians and 73 Israelis Branson released statements on his Virgin website calling for a worldwide commitment to the rebuilding of Gaza and “an internationally recognized state for Palestinians where they can live their lives with dignity” In another reference he recognized the disproportionate nature of the conflict: “Just watching Israel bombarding Palestine and Palestine sending one or two little rockets over to Israel—it’s just too sad for words” In this “war” Israel killed over 2200 Palestinians 73 Israelis were killed Branson has also made general statements: “Inequality is probably the biggest prohibitor that we face to creating a sustainable and equitable future for all of us” and “social justice is good for business” “Before” and “after” menus from Virgin Atlantic Virgin caves in 2018 Sir Richard Branson gave up control of Virgin Atlantic in July 2017 when he sold stakes in the airline taking him from 51 down to 20 He remains president of the company A few months later a scandal erupted Virgin Atlantic served an appetizer aboard some flights identified on the menu as “Palestinian couscous salad” This drew sharp criticism from Israel supporters some of whom called for a boycott of the airline and accused it of sympathizing with terrorists Some targeted Branson himself saying that he had shown his “true colors” presumably as anti-Israel Following the brouhaha the word “Palestinian” was removed from the menu the food item continued to be served and the management apologized for the “offense caused” A spokesperson for the airline acknowledged that couscous was a Palestinian dish but explained the decision as “a result of feedback” Is Branson a true advocate for Palestinian justice or a player Richard Branson has not been bashful in his calls for Palestinians to get a fair shake Taking a stand against Israel’s supposed “right to self-defense” setting justice and peace as priorities – these are positions that often come at high social cost But billionaires have plenty of social capital and can afford to throw money at human rights causes Branson has signed the Giving Pledge in which he vowed to give away more than half of his fortune to philanthropic causes during his lifetime That still leaves him with up to 2 billion What would make Sir Richard Branson a true advocate for Palestinian justice not just a big talker He could dare to demand of his new destination Israel the same human rights standards he required in Virgin Atlantic – respect and dignity for all people directly or indirectly impacted by the company based on the principles laid out in the UN Universal Declaration on Human Rights He could do what no superpower or international human rights organization has ever done: hold Israel to international standards Why Because Richard Branson has what Israel craves: recognition a vehicle to take the country to legitimacy a golden ticket to the high tech world that Israel wants more than just about anything Branson could be considered a Palestine ally with leverage Dear Sir Richard You could potentially create a legacy of epic proportions – if you dare You could change the lives of millions of Palestinians who have lived on the edge of hopelessness for decades The “something ghastly” you spoke of ten years ago has happened is happening Please in your unique position at this moment invoke your philosophy – “social justice is good for business” – and demand Israeli compliance with the UN Universal Declaration on Human Rights The Declaration states that all rights and freedoms belong to all people “without distinction of any kind…including national or social origin” – yet as you know Israel maintains separate discriminatory laws and policies that apply only to Palestinians The Declaration affirms that “no one shall be subjected to torture” that accused persons have the right to “a fair and public hearing ”and that “no one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest detention or exile” – yet Israel routinely tortures Palestinian prisoners including children operates a military court system for Palestinians in violation of international law and has practiced arbitrary arrest detention and exile for decades Israel also regularly violates Palestinian rights to “freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state” to “leave any country including his own and to return to his country” and to “a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family including food clothing housing and medical care” Indeed the UN-guaranteed right of return is for many Palestinians a top priority and arguably one of their most important demands The right of return was also emphasized in a UN resolution in 1948 All of this you know Sir Richard and all of this you deplore Will you put your mouth where your money is by calling out Israel for its many human rights
